It’s Labor Day Weekend here in the U.S., a time to relax, rest and get those last few days in at the beach. For most of us, Labor Day is simply a day off of work and school. The origin of the holiday is not that far off from our modern day celebrations.
What is Labor Day?
Labor Day was originally founded by the Central Labor Party in 1882 and became a national holiday some years after that. The holiday is literally a celebration of the hard work and contribution of the U.S. laboror. Its purpose, to give credit to the American worker for the nation’s strength, freedom and leadership. The original celebration was actually a picnic.
These days, we are more likely to head to the beach for one last weekend, have a barbecue, watch some football and put the white away.
Whatever your choice, we hope you can take some time off and enjoy your family and friends! Happy Labor Day Weekend, Marla
